Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum

The Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum was established in 1912 for the celebration of the beginning of the Taisho period. The collection includes ancient pottery of the region as well as other archaeological works found at regional ruins. Some fine arts are also on display.

Hagi City Local Museum

The Hagi City Museum was founded in 1959 to preserve and exhibit the traditional arts and crafts of the region.

Hagi Uragami Museum

The Hagi Uragami Museum was founded in 1993 to preserve and exhibit oriental arts. The collection includes 2,600 Ukiyo-e prints, and 340 oriental ceramic wares.

Ishii Tea Bowl Museum

The Ishii Tea Bowl Museum was founded in 1969 and this kind of museum showing only tea bowls is rarely seen. The collection includes 60 pieces of ancient Hagi-yaki, 50 ancient Korean tea bowls, and 15 pieces of Raku-yaki. The museum is a must see for tea bowl fans.

Kumaya Museum

The Kumaya Museum was founded in 1965 to exhibit the private collection of the KUMAYA family, a successful merchant family since the Edo period. The collection includes household items, 300 brush paintings, 500 tea ceremony articles and 1500 literary items. The house used by the KUMAYA Family is also on exhibit; four house of them are designated as Important Cultural Properties.

Mohri Museum

The Mohri Museum was founded in 1966 to exhibit the collection of the MOHRI family, a feudal lord in the region during the Edo period. The collection includes household items, arts and crafts, armor, swords, and literature of the middle to modern era. Thirty-eight works are designated as Important Cultural Properties among the 20,000 piece collection.

Tokuyama City Museum of ART

The Tokuyama City Museum was established in 1995 and exhibits photographs, arts and crafts, historical works, and regional artist's works. More than 400 pieces of contemporary ceramics are also in the collection.
